Box, Tube and Fusion Furnace Buying Guide
Share
Compare VivTek box furnaces, horizontal and vertical tube furnaces, and the electric fusion furnace by sample geometry, heating program and atmosphere.
Where to start
Start with the geometry of the load and the process environment. Compare a box furnace for chamber-based loads and a tube furnace when your setup calls for a process tube. Use the fusion furnace listing when your workflow specifically calls for electric fusion.

Box and atmosphere-controlled furnaces
-
Muffle Box Furnaces – 1200°C 1/12/36/80L
The MBF1200 series lists 1, 12, 36 and 80 L chamber options. Compare internal chamber dimensions for fixture fit.
-
Muffle Box Furnaces – 1400°C 12/36/80L
The MBF1400 table lists 12, 36 and 80 L chambers. Confirm the electrical and heating requirements for the selected chamber.
-
Muffle Box Furnaces – 1700°C 3.6/12/36L
The listing gives a 1,700°C maximum and a separate 1,650°C continuous working temperature. Compare the applicable temperature rating and the 3.6, 12 and 36 L chamber options.
-
Muffle Box Furnaces – 1400/1700 °C Atmosphere-Controlled
The ACBF14 and ACBF17 tables list atmosphere-controlled box furnaces with 12 and 36 L chambers. Confirm the gas-handling configuration with the exact model.
Horizontal, vertical and mini tube furnaces
-
Mini tube furnaces
The mini-tube listing includes compact horizontal and vertical configurations. Compare the model table’s tube and hot-zone dimensions for small specimens.
-
Tube Furnaces – 1200°C D60/80/100-40inch
The VTF12 table lists horizontal and vertical models and a separate constant-temperature zone measurement. Check the setup against both dimensions.
-
Tube Furnaces – 1400°C D60/80/100 Horizontal Position
The VTF1400H table identifies horizontal tube configurations with 60, 80 and 100 mm tube diameters and a listed 150 mm constant-temperature zone.
-
Tube Furnaces – 1700°C D60/80/100 Horizontal Position
The VTF1700H table identifies horizontal configurations and separates the tube length from the constant-temperature zone. Confirm tube and accessory materials for your run.
-
Tube Furnaces – 1400°C D60/80/100 Vertical Position
The VTF1400V table gives vertical tube options in three diameters. Check the vertical fixture and overhead clearance.
-
Tube Furnaces – 1700°C D60/80/100 Vertical Position
The VTF1700V listing gives vertical tube configurations by diameter. Confirm the required hot-zone length and the clear space for loading.
Electric fusion for sample preparation
-
Electric Fusion Furnaces – 1200°C Automatic
The VFUSE listing offers three electric fusion configurations. Ask which crucibles, mold tooling and program capabilities are included for your sample-preparation method.
What to include in your quote request
- State the target setpoint, duration, heating program and temperature region that the sample or fixture must occupy. Ask about the usable hot zone at those conditions.
- Send dimensions of the load, boat or crucible and the preferred orientation. Confirm chamber or tube dimensions and clearance for loading and servicing.
- If using a controlled atmosphere or vacuum, request confirmation of the tube, seals, feedthroughs, allowable conditions and utilities for that build.
